Tamil politicians engage Tamil Nadu CM for Federalism in Sri Lanka



  • Attention focused on resolving issues affecting Indian and Sri Lankan Tamil fishermen and Sri Lankan Tamil refugees living in India

A seven-member delegation of the Tamil National Forum, led by Jaffna District Parliamentarian Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam, yesterday met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay at the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s secretariat. 

According to sources at the TNF, they had extensive discussions on several issues affecting the Tamil community in Sri Lanka. 

The main issues taken up were the political and human rights faced by the Tamil community, the need for a federal system of government, and an independent international investigation into the alleged genocide. 

They focused attention on resolving the issues affecting Indian and Sri Lankan Tamil fishermen and Sri Lankan Tamil refugees living in India.
