Sri Lankan missions abroad were inundated with a torrent of telephone calls from foreigners inconvenienced by the sudden decision to outsource on-arrival visa application process to a foreign consortium.
The government implemented the decision on April 17 but foreigners who applied before that had been inconvenienced because there was no confirmation on visa approval under the previous system. These travelers started calling the missions in their respective countries endlessly and inquired about it but the heads of mission had been clueless. Later, these applicants had been asked to re-apply.
