Sri Lankan Health authorities have cautioned against  sensational claims surrounding Russia’s so-called cancer vaccine  ‘Enteromix’, saying it remains at a pre-clinical stage and has yet to  prove its effectiveness through scientific validation.

The warning comes amid a surge of viral posts and  international reports describing Enteromix as a “100 per cent effective”  cure for cancer, claims that experts say are scientifically premature  and misleading.

“While any advancement in oncology is welcome, this vaccine  is still in the early stages of development,” an official from the  Health Ministry told Daily Mirror. “It has to be proven through proper oncological and scientific research before any conclusions about its efficacy can be drawn.”

Developed by Russia’s National Medical Research  Radiological Centre, Enteromix reportedly uses mRNA technology similar  to that used in COVID-19 vaccines, aiming to help the immune system  target cancer cells. Reports claim that early trials showed promising  tumour responses in colorectal cancer patients.  However, medical experts stress that pre-clinical findings—  results seen in laboratory or animal studies — cannot be equated with  proven human efficacy.
