The Road Development Authority (RDA ) will need at least one and half years to reconstruct major bridges damaged in the recent disasters triggered by cyclone Ditwah, an official said yesterday.
Director General of the RDA Wimal Kandambi told Daily Mirror that major roads affected by the floods and landslides would be rebuilt in the span of three months. However, he said that nearly 40 bridges had been damaged extensively and a time frame of 18 months would be required to restore them.
Earlier , he said that the cyclone inflicted damages amounting to Rs.190 billion in rough terms to A and B grade roads across the country. The RDA is responsible for the highways of A and B category only.
