Police nab woman posing as Inspector with toy pistol

• She was arrested on suspicion of involvement in illegal activities
• The imposter was  further questioned to find in her possession a toy pistol made of wood

A woman in a police inspector’s sports uniform idling near a lodge in Pettah on Thursday evening (15) was questioned on suspicion by a team of police officers from the Colombo Central Division Crime Investigation Unit to find that she was not a police officer.  The imposter was arrested and further questioned to find in her possession a toy pistol made of wood. She stated that she had lost her national identity card, regarding which she lodged a complaint with Peradeniya Police and produced a copy of the entry.

However, during investigations, she produced her national identity card, which she had in her possession. 

Police said she was arrested on suspicion on the possibility of her involvement in illegal activities and that they initiated further investigations. She was to be produced in court yesterday morning.
