The Opposition has filed a complaint with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) on misuse of Rs 500 million involved in education reforms.

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Mujibur Rahman told media that he and few others have lodged a complaint with CIABOC on the alleged misuse of funds.” Complaints filed with CIABOC does not have to be on bribes all the time but one could file a complaint with regard to misuse of funds. Accordingly, we have lodged a complaint with CIABOC on misuse and wastage of funds,” the MP said.

He said Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya has to be responsible for the wastage of funds as the Minister in charge of education.

Also, he said the government has failed to follow a fair process in introducing education reforms. “The Government should have introduced a white paper and subject it to a broad discussion with all stakeholders,” he said in this regard.
