Transfer of land occupied by the security forces in Jaffna, to the owners under the “Urumaya” programme took place yesterday at Ottagapulam in Jaffna with President Ranil Wickremesinghe as the chief guest.
About two million people are scheduled to receive deeds for their land under “Urumaya programme”
As a token, the president handed over to 408 farmers the deeds for land in the extent of 224 acres in five Grama Niladhari areas that had been under the Jaffna Security Forces Headquarters.
Minister Douglas Devananda, Governor Northern Province P.S.M.Charles and several parliamentarians and senior officials were present at the occasion.
