I am happy to be able to save the lives of several people despite being injured: SF soldier

The Special Forces soldier who volunteered to rescue victims of the Ella bus tragedy while on leave said that he was happy to be able to save the lives of several people despite him being injured.

He stated that it was because of the training that the Army had imparted to him he was able to take several quick decisions at the site of the accident.

“When I reached the mangled bus I heard several voices pleading to save them were heard from a place about 30 feet above us. I immediately reached the location using ropes with great difficulty and tied the body of one person  on to myself before descending the  cliff  slowly. It was then that a rock fell from above injuring my left eye” he said.

The soldier had rescued several other persons as well - in the same place at the middle of the cliff, despite him being severely injured. He said that soldiers are trained to be on stand-by even when they are on leave.
