High Court Judge Ranga Srinath Dissanayake has been appointed as the new Director General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

Dissanayake’s appointment follows the resignation of High Court Judge W.K.D. Wijerathne from the post on October 7, 2024. He assumed duties in the new position with effect from yesterday.    In October of the same year, applications were called for the position in accordance with the Anti-Corruption Act No. 9 of 2023.

Since Wijerathne’s resignation, Ms. M.R.Y.K. Udawela, the Commission’s Additional Director General, held the post temporarily.   The Commission said that during her tenure, Ms. Udawela prepared charge sheets for 62 cases and submitted them to court.
