Father, son sent to the gallows over murder after ten years

Two accused who stood indicted with murder were sentenced  to death by Chilaw High Court Judge Nayomi Thamara Wickremasinghe  yesterday.   

The accused Thennakoon Pathirennehelage Jagath Weerasinghe  and his son Duminda Sampath Weerasinghe of Madampe had on June 21, 2015,  hacked to death a resident of Ratanagiriywatta in Madampe, Madapathage  Don Indika Ruwan Sanjeewa.   

Police told court that the accused had an animosity with  the victim for providing information to the police regarding an illicit  liquor trade and that it was the motive of the killing.   
After trial-at-bar, the accused were sentenced to death by the High Court Judge.
