Clash between two groups of Chinese nationals: Chinese Embassy calls for thorough probe



The Chinese Embassy in Colombo has urged Sri Lankan authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the clash between two groups of Chinese nationals and the subsequent abduction of three persons following the incident at the Colombo Port City.  

In a statement, the Embassy said it was closely monitoring the case and requested the Sri Lankan police to establish the facts as soon as possible while safeguarding the personal safety and legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens in Sri Lanka.  

The Embassy also advised Chinese nationals residing in Sri Lanka to enhance their safety awareness and immediately report emergencies to the police while seeking assistance from the Embassy when necessary.  

According to police, a clash had occurred between two groups last night, during which three Chinese nationals were allegedly abducted.  Two of the abducted individuals were later found abandoned with injuries and admitted to hospital, while the third person remained missing.  

Meanwhile police said, the body of the missing alleged Chinese national was recovered from the Karandana area in Eheliyagoda yesterday(23), and investigations are currently underway.
