An official named Dharshana Samaraweera and few NGOs promoting homosexuality are behind the crisis pertaining to the Grade Six module issue, an opposition MP told Parliament yesterday.
“The official Dharashana Samaraweera is connected to the NPP and his daughter contested for the Pannala Pradeshiya Sabha. This official had prepared the module with a group of teachers from Anuradhapura District. However, the issue is that there are number of grammatical errors in the module in addition to the sex education issue,” MP Dayasiri Jayasekara revealed.
MP Jayasekara questioned as to why Samaraweera has not been questioned by the CID to this date. “Other officials are taken to CID almost every day while Samaraweera is spared,” he said.
Also, the MP said some organizations promoting homosexuality are also behind the issue. This he said include Think Equal which is connected to another organization called Grass route Trust. “There is also another organization whose member is an MP,” he said.
Furthermore, he said logging into certain websites are prohibited for children under 16 years in countries such as USA and UK. “In countries such as Finland children are allowed to log into sites through a platform which is created for teachers. The Sri Lankan government should take these matters into consideration,” he stressed.
