Envisioning a greener digital future, Ceylinco General Insurance has commenced issuing its policies and certificates in digital form, thereby offering greater convenience to its customers.

This move is also an integral part of the company’s commitment to reduce harmful environmental impact and promote sustainable business practices.  By replacing the plastic card with digital alternatives, the company aims to significantly reduce the consumption of natural resources and decrease its carbon footprint.

Dr. Jagath Alwis, Chairman of Ceylinco General Insurance, commenting of this latest initiative said, “We understand the importance of protecting the environment for future generations and that every small step we take towards sustainability can make a significant difference in combating environmental degradation.

This move also helps to conserve foreign exchange at a time when the nation is desperately trying to revive the economy. Our company joins other insurers around the world who are transforming to digital policies and certificates while assuring customers of our continued commitment to serve them with our signature service standards.”

Rex Gunatileke, Director / Chief Operating Officer of Ceylinco General Insurance said, “The growing significance of digital technologies is transforming societies and economies. In the digital transition, we aim to harness digital technologies for sustainability and prosperity, and to empower our customers.

Electronic policies and certificates offer heightened convenience and greater security as our highly secure digital platform ensures total privacy and data security. We invite our customers, partners and other stakeholders to join and support our mission to create a sustainable future for all.”

Issuing of digital policies and certificates is in accordance with the provision of Section 3 of the Electronic Transactions Act No 19 of 2006 which says, “No data message, electronic document, electronic record or other communication shall be denied legal recognition, effect, validity or enforceability on the ground that it is in electronic form.”

For the convenience of the customers and to overcome any obstacles, the relevant section of the Electronic Transactions Act will be attached to the digital certificate.  In line with the provisions of the Electronic Transactions Act, all authorities will be bound to accept digital certificates and policies as valid proof.
