Saka hat-trick powers England to 6-4 win over France in World Cup thriller

July.19 (Mirror Sports) - Mbappe breaks all-time World Cup scoring record, but England claim bronze after a 10-goal classic in Miami.

Bukayo Saka scored a hat-trick as England beat France 6-4 in a thrilling FIFA World Cup 2026 third-place play-off.

Declan Rice and Ezri Konsa put England 2-0 up before Saka struck twice to give Thomas Tuchel's side a commanding 4-0 lead at half-time.

France fought back after the break. Kylian Mbappe scored twice, while Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembele also found the net.

Mbappe's second goal took him to 22 World Cup goals, making him the tournament's all-time leading scorer.

But Saka completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot before Jude Bellingham sealed England's victory with a superb individual effort.

The 10-goal thriller secured England's best World Cup finish since their 1966 triumph.

France, meanwhile, finish the tournament without a medal after their disappointing semi-final defeat by Spain.

England's bronze-medal finish came just days after their painful late collapse against defending champions Argentina.

Argentina face Spain in Sunday's World Cup final in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
