The human rights issue in Sri Lanka will be taking center stage as the UN Human Rights Council meets in Geneva from 22 February to 23 March for its 46th Session. Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarian M.A Sumanthiran is among those advocating for stronger action on Sri Lanka over its failure to meet its commitments to the Council.  In an interview with Daily Mirror online, Sumanthiran responded to allegations made against the TNA, India’s role in Geneva and the return of the US to the Council.

Sumanthiran, what do you think the LTTE proxies the TNA were doing in the South during the 30 year war? What are the Tamils doing in the WP owning houses and businesses? What else do you need you hypocrite??? Do not trade unfounded Tamil cause for the survival of the Tamil politicians. You give equal rights to the Low Caste Tamils.

I too would like the answer to that question. I do not see any discrimination when I the happenings around the country. The absence of law and order is a common problem which all citizens without 'influence' are facing. A Sinhala politicians son was beaten-up not too long ago. The aggressors did not know that he has 'connections'.

There is no discrimination as you can buy land everywhere in Lanka. The Sinhalese cannot buy in the North. The Tamils travel as refugees to western countries and quickly save money to buy condominiums in Colombo, The West is embracing the LTTE for their illegal wealth
