Lanka Sathosa Chairman Pasanda Yapa Abeywardena said that the imported eggs have been in high demand, making record breaking sales in just a day.
"We distributed stocks expecting them to last for three days at least, but we have been informed that eggs are mostly sold out at our outlets. Out of 438,000 eggs, 420,000 eggs have been sold today," Abeywardena said.
"We have taken steps to replenish and maintain stocks in the Western Province," he said. Meanwhile eggs will also be distributed to Galle and Matara districts on Friday, Abeywardena said.
