The number of deaths due to the bus accident on the Kotaleeya bridge at Manampitiya has increased to 11 by this morning, the area police said.
They also confirmed that the number of admissions of injured passengers to the Polonnaruwa and Manampitiya hospitals has increased to 35.
It was reported that nine passengers had died and more than 20 injured in the accident.
The accident occurred after a bus from Polonnaruwa to Kaththankudy collided on the Kotaleeya bridge at Manampitiya and toppled into the river last evening.
