The Wildlife Department has provided its specialized scanning machine to conduct three thermal imaging scans on the injured Maharagama Seetha, who was shot eight times by a Civil Defence Department member after mistakingly identifying the elephant brought down to Mahiyangana for the Asala Pageant, as a wild animal.
Dr. Tharaka Prasad, the Director General of the Wildlife Department Health Service Division, conducted the scans and tests on Maharagama Seetha, who was immediately attended by Dr. Tharindu Wijekoon, the veterinarian of the Sacred Temple of Tooth Relic of Kandy.
