All Island Canteen Owners' Association Chief Asela Sampath charged that imported eggs are sold as locally produced eggs, at a higher price.
"These imported eggs which should be sold at Rs. 35 per egg are being sold as local eggs at Rs. 44," he said. The stamp on imported eggs is being erased by fraudulent traders, Sampath said.
