“Madduma Bandara called me a ‘bitch’ in Parliament the other day. This is actually sexual abuse in the form of words. This is an insult to all women in the country which accounts to 52 percent of the population. It is women who elect MPs to Parliament. These MPs have no right to insult women. He should be brought before the privilege committee and should be severely dealt with,” Ms. Gamage said.
“There are few Bandaras in the Opposition who hold grudges against me. They cannot do a man’s job in a proper manner. I can lend Mr. Madduma Bandara one of my sarees. He can wear it and do a woman’s job. I can wear one of his trousers and do a man’s job,” she added.
“If Mr. Madduma Bandara insults me or any female MP again, he is going to get a good shot from me,” she also said.
