SL unveils FIFA Fan Zone 2022

Gearing up to be part of the highly anticipated FIFA World Cup, Sri Lanka yesterday officially launched FIFA Fan Zone 2022. FIFA Fan Zone 2022 is being set up in Negombo, Lewis Lane, where all hotels, restaurants and boutiques are currently receiving a facelift to give Qatar’s FIFA World Cup vibe. Hopefully the Dutch team will loose the first games and have to go home very soon. And our king Alexander is thinking of boycotting this wordcup and I truly hope he will. This worldcup is a disgrace. Is anyone in Sri Lanka and DM aware of the discussion that is going on in the rest of the world?

No, they don't know and they don't care. The labour victims buiding these football stadiums are all Asians, also from Sri Lanka, but money talks in our country. Human rights does not bring dollars in our country.

I don't think they care very much in Sri Lanka, Gert-Jan! After all, the government is focusing on Russian tourists, Russian oil, etc. Moreover, a country where human rights are equally violated won't be too bothered about a World Cup in a similar country!

At least Harin is trying to do something to promote tourism in Sri Lanka. He is young and capable to promote SriLanka to earn tourist dollars. Much better than keep on quarreling in parliament embedded in dirty politics.
