The parliament grounds which had been a paradise for joggers and sports fans was turned in to a muddy mess following the Thun Kal Dekma exhibition organized by the Ministry of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities which has Wimal Weerawansa as subject minister. Pic by Varuna Vanniarachchi.

It is really pathetic to see this ground, once was looking beautiful with crowd enjoying, playing with family. This man is either jealous of such or stupid!

Why the HELL Parliament Grounds ? We have lost the Kettaram Stadium. All the time the focus is on Sports grounds and recreational areas for show off... Why not consider the plight of the public.... and leave us tax-payers a lone to spend some time in such places and value what is left for us...

This money could have use for the real purpose instead of an exhibition.

Please don't criticize our projects without knowing the facts. This new swimming pool project was completed in a novel way, with no cost to the public. As Sri Lankans we must live like Sri Lankans and use this pool to cool ourselves.

Any body using state land for any official purpose should put the land back to its original condition. In this instance it appears the Ministry of Construction and engineering is the guilty party !! The Minister concerned should surely take immediate action to resolve matters.

Parliament is in a mess. Both inside and outside.I suspect this to an act of the "UN".un-necessary act of the WW.

Bread, Chicken and other consumer goods prices have gone Sky High! Is this the time for these political jokers to hold lavish exhibitions, wasting public funds, just to curry favour and score points with His Royal Highness, MR?

Most of the commentators seem to be politically motivated and narrow minded and they know that WM did a second-less role at the presidential campaign so their choice got defeated. That is why they sling mud at WM using this opportunity to get some self satisfaction.
There were so many instances in Sri lanka that even cricket tournaments were badly effected due to bad whether.
Due to global warming even whether patterns are now unpredictable.
Should be fair and impartial when writing a comment.

The relevant minister is simply a public figure - a performer of sorts useful for election campaigns and nothing else. how can we expect normalcy. ?

Upul Wednesday, 06 October 2010 04:58 AM
Even if the relevant ministry take action to correct this mess, it is general publics' tax paying money involved, not WW's personal money. Before holding this sort exhibitions relevant ministries should do an cost benefit analysis and an EIA. On thing is sure, Had majority of Sri Lankans had a so called Tun Kal Dakma, definitely people like WW would not have been what he is today.
