It does not look any of these items are of historical value. One could buy these at home auctions and jewelry shops all over the island. They buy them for the silver value and then melt them to make jewelry. Some buy these for antique value as they like old stuff. These have no historic significance at all. People abroad buy these as antiques. I know of so many Sri Lankan's living abroad who posses these items, old coins, spoons, jewelry etc. which they have brought back from their visits back home. If you ask any jeweler in S/L, one could find any number of these items for sale with them.

They may lack any historical value but they certainly have antique value and should belong here in Sri Lanka. The fact that they are smuggled for sale abroad says it all.
