Please don’t waste clean water on them!

I feel bad for the police in helmet and uninform enduring the heat while these people protest. Not an easy job for sure. It is unfortunate that there must be a protest on some ruckus to get the government's attention to get anything done.

There must be a water cut in Colombo. That could be why water cannons were not used

Government must address these long standing issues without delay. If not we are likely to see a complete collapse of the country

I feel sorry for all non academic staff...they don't get a good salary and feel sorry for them all.. Unlikely academic staff they are treated poorly by the governments and it is not fair at all. They don't have strong unions to force the government.. Mighty is always right . We must speak out for them NPP will put them on equal footing . Only NPP can help them out .

BRING IN A NEW ERA WITH NPP, THEY WILL BRING THE COUNTRY AND ITS POEPLE OUT OF THIS LONG STANDING MESS. Tuesday, 07 May 2024 05:21 PM

SOPT ON. NPP WIL WIPE OUR CORRUPTION AND GET JUSTICE FOR US THE PEOPLE, WHO HAVE BEEN SUFFERING FOR DECADES AND HAVE FINALLY GOT A VOICE, THANKS TO PEOPLES POWER THAT FORCED GOTA TO RUN FOR HIS LIFE, BUT SHAMEFULLY RETURNED AND LIVING THE HIGH LIFE.

Don’t be surprised it may happen! But here again, your regime is very capable for doing wonders coz most have extra embezzled funds to throw at for things to be done their way. From your comments of late, might already be on their payroll too!

Majority of these protesters voted for Rata-perata, Suba Anagathayak or miracle of Asia and what can they expect from this all-hora-havul bankrupt Govt. and the Universities under the ghost control of JVP and Peratugaami.

Some people are addicted to protesting, specially those who are in Government universities and communist circles. They should be sent to Kanthakkadu for a rigorous rehabilitation program.

Your union president/ secretary should go and speak to the relevant people. Take m.Wansa with you. He is a double pp man. He is sure to help.

Election time is the best time for industrial action. Politicians have to listen to them.

Former University Employee Wednesday, 08 May 2024 05:40 AM

These universities are way overstaffed when compared to Universities abroad which have comparable student numbers. A peon in a SL university takes home more than a graduate teacher. Politicians destroyed Universities like other govt institutions by packing these with their henchmen. Many of them virtually do nothing. There are 4 or 5 lab attendants in a lab doing nothing, often playing cards or drinking . In a comparable lab abroad you cannot usually find more than one lab staff. All these places need to be restructured. More than 95% of expenditure in these Universities are for staff salaries!
