Uniform relief from China

A large-scale donation of school uniform fabrics by China is set to ease the financial burden on millions of Sri Lankan families as the new school year begins, with more than 4.4 million students expected to benefit from the programme. The donation, made by the Government of the People’s Republic of China, includes 11.484 million metres of fabric that will be used to provide free school uniforms to children studying in government and government-assisted schools, as well as to students of government-approved pirivenas.
