Seized heroin and ice brought to Dikowita Harbour



The Sri Lanka Navy has arrested five suspects along with a local multi-day fishing vessel carrying over 193 kilograms of heroin and crystal methamphetamine (ice) during a special naval operation conducted in the deep sea south of Sri Lanka.

The Navy said that the operation led to the seizure of a multi-day fishing vessel transporting 11 sacks suspected to contain narcotics. The suspects and the vessel were brought to the Dikowita Fisheries Harbour this morning.

Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) and Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda were present during the inspection of the seized drug stock. Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasuriya also attended the inspection.
