The Sri Lanka College of Specialist Family Physicians (SLCSFP) will host its second Academic Sessions on September 21 at Monarch Imperial, featuring local and international experts under the theme “Strengthening Primary Care and Annual Scientific Sessions 2025.”
The newly elected council announced initiatives including public awareness campaigns, a professional support hotline, nationwide workshops, and welfare programs to strengthen the primary care workforce in line with WHO and Ministry of Health strategies.
Board-Certified Family Physicians have been central to Sri Lanka’s primary care for over a decade, providing patient-centered care mainly through government hospitals and clinics. The establishment of a specialist cadre has improved access to timely, high-quality care, reducing costs, waiting times, and unnecessary hospital admissions while easing the burden on tertiary hospitals.
