Sad to see that we lost all these giant trees. We should only have ourselves blame to have put concrete all around them and choke them. Welcome to another concrete jungle like China and India

One thing observed from the pictures is that the fallen tree did not seem to have deep roots, but only spider-spread roots, which can't sustain heavy winds. This issue is not uncommon but Environmental Authorities must plant trees that can go deep into the soil rather than spread like spider-legs. Climate uncertainties shall prevail for an unpredictable long time, so the actions must take promptly to avoid damages and perhaps human losses at some stage soon.

So sad. These beautiful trees were barely taken care of it seems. Look at the roots! Not even deeply rooted. The pavement is built on it. No chance for roots to grow into the soil or spread out.

Encouraging Park and Recreation Ministry/ personnel to be proactive and competent by trimming branches rather than allowing tress to fall and disrupt peoples life. Lazy fellows

Does the CMC have a tree maintenance program? Some of these giants must be a hundred or more years old. Especially the ones around Reid Ave, Jawatte, Royal College, Thurstan Rd . Besides cutting branches that intrude onto the road, have not noticed any other activities. If you ask them, I guess they will say "it is RDA or UDA responsibility, not us"
