This reservoir has been constructed despite the watershed management principles under the accelerated Mahawali project. That is why this reservoir runs dry even during a short spell of drought. Furthermore since its construction the silt and other debris has not been removed to maintain its retaining capacity. Therefore the Mahawali authority should take necessary measures to deepen this reservoir in order to maximise the capacity

Could these dams be excavated to hold more water. Nothing is done proactively in this country regardless of a NPP or a SLFP/UNP. The SLPP is the scum of the country

That's a pleco in the picture , that's a bad sign whenever invasive species are in a river especially a dry one , bad news for local species
