Heavy rain floods Colombo streets

Pedestrians wade through floodwaters during heavy rain in Colombo today. A persistent low-pressure area to the northeast of the island has brought cloudy skies and widespread showers across several provinces. The Meteorology Department has warned of heavy rainfall exceeding 100mm in parts of the country, urging the public to take precautions against strong winds and lightning during thunderstorms.
