A special Sri Lanka Navy diving team was deployed on 4 December to the Kalupalama Bridge (commonly known as Devil's Bridge) in Peradeniya, where debris, including large logs and bamboo thickets, had severely blocked the waterway. Following nearly two weeks of continuous and coordinated efforts alongside the Sri Lanka Railways Department, Navy divers and personnel successfully cleared all obstructions by 17 December. The restoration of unimpeded drainage will enable the Railways Department to carry out essential future repairs and maintenance without delay. Pictures by Sri Lanka Navy

Mother nature is demonstrating to the masses the results of unplanned and short cited activities upstream. Before the British uprooted all the up country forests Sri Lanka was blessed with crystal clear water throughout the year. The forests also acted as a buffer for rushing waters like these
