Beach cleaning program launched...

Do we need such special teams to clean beaches and other areas, if HUMANS are living in this country? Nothing but heavy fines will make a difference at least.

Cleaning this once in a blue moon will not help as the beach users are going to make it dirty again. With this , you must have laws to fine those who litter , catch one or two and then the rest will obey. Give publicity to those who make the place dirty too. Also , appoint a community organisation to look after specific area so automatically the people are engaged on a consistent basis.

Great Job! To help ensure that the beach remains clean can we please do the following: Install Rubbish bins in these areas ; Erect notice boards to encourage people to dispose waste in those bins only.

It is sad that we have to carry out so much of cleaning programs. We need to better educate people to refrain from littering. Ideally targetting the small children who should be able to put pressure on their parents if they litter. A common littering is passengers thoring wrappers from vehicles and pedestrians throwing wrappers

Great effort, and big “thank you”to tackle present problem! To cultivate a more environment- conscious society, perhaps we should get school children to participate with such activities at least a few times a year with supervision?

Sri Lankans are litter bugs. Throw out paper plastic polythene bags bottled everywhere. Fining is the only way. Teach people to respect the environment.
