When appointing Principals to schools the government must be mindful to check the past achievements of the candidates they are considering in relation to the category of the school. Just appointing the next senior on line may not work these days as some of these people are corrupt or made to be corrupt by the past politicians. The amount of mediation and involvement by the OBAs and parents in the Sri Lankan education system needs to be reviewed and stopped as soon as possible. There was an issue with the political participation; however, it is now almost zero. The OBA and Parent culture in some schools is at an appalling level, and independently appointed Principals cannot do anything without asking the OBAs.
