Now let me clarify this for the Chinese and others: China never actually won against Imperial Japan — they did not even come close. Japanese forces in mainland China, including Manchuria, ultimately surrendered to the USSR after the Soviets tore up their own non-aggression treaty and declared war on Japan. It was only after this that Chinese communists, with Soviet backing, turned their weapons against their own nationalist counterparts under Chiang Kai-shek. The communists eventually prevailed, forcing the nationalists to retreat to what we now call Taiwan. I notice many Japanese today are skeptical of China and narratives like these false claims only serve to make them even more skeptical.

Sri Lankan people do not realise how fortunate they are. If Imperial Japan had invaded Ceylon, they would have suffered terribly. Sri Lanka has no neighbours apart from India. Other nations have many neighbours and many problems. SL is so fertile and has many resources. All it's troubles have been caused by corrupt leaders and corrupt and idle people over the last seventy years. AKD has a huge job to change all this and it can't be done in just five years.
