1,000 deeds for zone C farmers

The inaugural ceremony for issuing 1,000 Mahaweli title deeds to farmers in Mahaweli Zone C was held yesterday at the Giradurukotte Buddhist Center. The event was held under the patronage of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands and Irrigation Minister K.D. Lalkantha.

The deeds will be distributed to farmers in Mahaweli Zone C as part of a step-by-step plan to implement the program across all ten Mahaweli zones. Farmers receiving the deeds today have not yet been issued any formal documents confirming ownership of their land. The initiative is being led by the Mahaweli Authority.

Minister Lalkantha highlighted the government’s commitment to securing land ownership for farmers and strengthening agricultural development in the Mahaweli areas.
