Indices continue to close in green



Indices closed in green as a result of price gains in counters such as John Keells Holdings, Hayleys and Melstacorp with the turnover crossing Rs. 4.9 bn. 

High net worth and institutional investor participation was noted in Sampath Bank, Hemas Holdings and John Keells Holdings. 

Mixed interest was observed in Access Engineering, Lanka Milk Foods and Colombo Land & Development Company whilst retail interest was noted in Softlogic Capital, SMB Leasing and Hikkaduwa Beach Resort. 

Foreign participation in the market activity remained at subdued levels with foreigners closing as net buyers. The Capital goods sector was the top contributor to the market turnover (due to Access Engineering and John Keells Holdings) whilst the sector index gained 1.73%. The share price of Access Engineering increased by Rs. 2.80 (3.62%) to close at Rs. 80.10. 

The share price of John Keells Holdings appreciated by Rs. 0.50 (2.24%) to close at Rs. 22.80. The Banking sector was the second highest contributor to the market turnover (due to Sampath Bank) whilst the sector index decreased by 0.62%. 

The share price of Sampath Bank recorded a loss of Rs. 0.25 (0.16%) to close at Rs. 160.50. Softlogic Capital and Lanka Milk Foods were also included amongst the top turnover contributors. The share price of Softlogic Capital gained Rs. 2.00 (21.51%) to close at Rs. 11.30. The share price of Lanka Milk Foods moved up by Rs. 7.80 (9.17%) to close at Rs. 92.80.
