Yaden Laboratories makes first sterile liquid injectables export to Africa

Yaden Laboratories Private Limited, a fully Sri Lankan-owned pharmaceutical manufacturer based at the Katunayake Export Processing Zone, has shipped its first export consignment of sterile liquid injectables to Zambia, marking a milestone for the country’s pharmaceutical industry.

The company, operational since October 2022, produces sterile formulation medicines and has been supplying the Ministry of Health in Sri Lanka. The initial export includes essential medicines such as Ketamine and Midazolam injections, commonly used for anesthesia and sedation.

“This is the first-ever export of Sri Lankan-made sterile formulation medicines to Africa,” said Chairman and Managing Director of Yaden Laboratories Shashimal Dissanayake.

“Next week, we are scheduled to export to Somalia, and by November, we will expand to Cambodia and Azerbaijan, with more international markets in our sights.”

Prakash Babu, CEO of Yaden Laboratories, added: “After supplying around six million units of medicines domestically, we are thrilled to take our sterile formulation medicines to Zambia. This milestone opens doors to new global opportunities for Sri Lankan pharmaceuticals.”
