Sri Lanka’s WindForce PLC said it has secured an engineering, procurement and commissioning (EPC) contract to develop a rooftop solar power project in the Maldives, marking a further step in its regional renewable energy expansion.
The project, located on Joy Island in the Kaafu Atoll, will have an installed capacity of 383 kilowatts-peak (kWp) and is valued at US$ 297,389, the company said in a stock exchange filing.
The agreement was signed with Joy Resort Pvt Ltd on 14 July, and the implementation period is expected to be around four months.
The installation aims to improve the resort’s energy efficiency and reduce its reliance on fossil fuels, in line with both the resort’s decarbonisation targets and WindForce’s regional clean energy growth strategy.
WindForce said the initiative reflects its commitment to delivering sustainable energy solutions and creating long-term stakeholder value.
