Union Assurance brought its flagship CSR programme ‘Suwamaga’ to Anuradhapura recently.
Conducted over three days on 28, 29 and 30 June near Sandahiru Seya during the Poson season, the initiative provided free diabetes screenings and health education to pilgrims and the wider public, marking the latest milestone in its ongoing journey.
Commenting on the initiative, Chief Marketing Officer of Union Assurance PLC, Mahen Gunarathna said, “At Union Assurance, we believe protecting what matters most begins long before protection is needed. Union Assurance Suwamaga was launched with the vision of addressing one of Sri Lanka’s most pressing public health challenges by making diabetes screening more accessible and encouraging early intervention.
Since then, the initiative has continued to build momentum, extending its reach across communities while empowering more Sri Lankans to take proactive steps towards protecting their health.”
“Poson presented a meaningful opportunity to extend this commitment even further. With thousands of pilgrims gathering in Anuradhapura from across the country, we wanted to bring preventive healthcare directly to them, removing some of the barriers that often delay timely health checks. Through Union Assurance Suwamaga, we hope to encourage more Sri Lankans to take that first step towards understanding their health, because timely action can make all the difference,” he added.
