Indices closed in green as a result of price gains in counters such as John Keells Holdings, Hatton National Bank and National Development Bank with the turnover crossing Rs. 5.6 Bn. High net worth and institutional investor participation was noted in Royal Ceramics, Lanka Tiles and John Keells Hotels. Mixed interest was observed in Vallibel One, Hatton National Bank and Sampath Bank whilst retail interest was noted in LVL Energy Fund, HVA Foods and HNB Finance. Foreign participation in the market activity remained at subdued levels with foreigners closing as net sellers.
The Capital Goods sector was the top contributor to the market turnover (due to Royal Ceramics, Lanka Tiles and Vallibel One) whilst the sector index gained 1.71%.
The share price of Royal Ceramics gained Rs 1.10 (2.78%) to close at Rs 40.70. The share price of Lanka Tiles moved up by Rs 3.00 (5.55%) to close at Rs 57.10.
The share price of Vallibel One appreciated by Rs 3.00 (3.80%) to close at Rs 82.00.
The Banking sector was the second highest contributor to the market turnover (due to Hatton National Bank) whilst the sector index increased by 1.60%. The share price of Hatton National Bank recorded a gain of Rs 8.50 (2.57%) to close at Rs 339.25.
LVL Energy Fund Limited was also included amongst the top turnover contributors. The share price of LVL Energy Fund Limited increased by Rs 1.10 (15.71%) to close at Rs 8.10.
