The ASPI closed in red as a result of price losses in counters such as Ceylinco Holdings, John Keells
Holdings and Hatton National Bank with the turnover crossing Rs. 6.1 Bn. A similar behaviour was witnessed in the S&P SL20. High net worth and institutional investor participation was noted in C T Holdings, Sanasa Development Bank and R I L Property. Mixed interest was observed in E B Creasy & Company, Laugfs Gas and Prime Lands Residencies whilst retail interest was noted in Lanka Credit and Business Finance, LOLC General Insurance and Softlogic Finance. Foreign participation in the market activity remained at subdued levels with foreigners closing as net sellers.
Capital Goods sector was the top contributor to the market turnover (due to E B Creasy & Company) whilst the sector index lost 0.89%. The share price of E B Creasy & Company moved up by Rs 2.80 (4.06%) to close at Rs 71.80. Real Estate sector was the second highest contributor to the market turnover (due to R I L Property and Prime Lands Residencies) whilst the sector index decreased by 0.36%. The share price of R I L Property increased by Rs 1.00 (3.11%) to close at Rs 33.20. The share price of Prime Lands Residencies declined by Rs 0.30 (1.01%) to close at Rs 29.40.
C T Holdings and Laugfs Gas were also included amongst the top turnover contributors. The share price of C T Holdings gained Rs 12.50 (1.77%) to close at Rs 719.75. The share price of Laugfs Gas recorded a gain of Rs 26.30 (65.42%) to close at Rs 66.50.
