The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu will pay an official visit to Sri Lanka between 14th and 15th June. The Minister will be received by President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, and the Speaker of Parliament Karu Jayasuriya. He will also hold bilateral talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka, Mangala Samaraweera, and Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade, Malik Samarawickrama.
Further, a MoU on cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka on diplomatic training, exchange of information and documentation is expected to be signed. This is the first ever visit by a Turkish Foreign Minister to Sri Lanka. The visit is expected to pave way to evaluate the bilateral relations and strengthen the cooperation between Turkey and Sri Lanka
