Sri Lanka highly acclaimed at C’wealth Summit: Ravi

The Commonwealth Finance Ministers’ Summit was held recently in Washington on the sidelines of the Annual Meetings of the World Bank (WB) and International Monetary 
Fund (IMF).  

Several world issues including the prevailing global economic crisis, the United Kingdom’s decision to leave the European Union and preparation finances to face climate change were discussed during the meeting.  

Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake also participated in this meeting. Meanwhile, Karunanayake said that Sri Lanka was highly acclaimed at the summit.
At the same time, the annual meetings of the WB and IMF were held recently. Finance ministers and top-level officials of the finance sector from 189 countries participated in the WB and IMF annual meetings this year.

Besides Karunanayake, his delegation to the WB and IMF meetings included Finance Ministry Secretary Dr. R.H.S. Samaratunga and Central Bank Governor Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy.
