Sri Lanka is set to review the progress of its trade, investment and tourism relations with Thailand at the bilateral discussions scheduled for March 25, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said yesterday.
A Sri Lankan delegation led by Foreign Secretary Aruni Ranaraja will visit Thailand for the sixth round of bilateral political consultations set to take place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Thailand’s capital Bangkok.
“The consultations are expected to review the progress made since the 5th Round of Bilateral Political Consultations and discussions will focus on strengthening cooperation in key areas, including political engagement, trade and investment, renewable energy, fisheries and agriculture sector cooperation, defense, culture, and tourism,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The last round of bilateral political consultations between Sri Lanka and Thailand was held in Colombo in August 2023, followed by an official visit of former Thai Prime Minister to Sri Lanka in February 2024.
This year also marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and Thailand, with both nations aiming to strengthen economic ties and explore new opportunities for trade and tourism collaboration.
