Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation General-SLIIT extend partnership

Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation General Limited (SLICGL) strengthened its engagement with the education sector, extending the strategic partnership with the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) for the second consecutive year, to strengthen the National Educator Awards (NEA) initiatives as the official insurance partner, uplifting and protecting teachers.

The NEA is a programme dedicated to honouring outstanding educators in Sri Lanka who have made impressive contributions to their respective academic disciplines. ‘Guru Buhuman’, exclusively created for teachers by SLICGL, is a specialised insurance solution designed to honour and protect teachers.

The partnership between SLICGL and SLIIT was first forged in 2024–2025, driven by a shared vision of supporting the NEA activities and empowering educators through the Guru Buhuman insurance product. What began as a pioneering collaboration has earned positive engagement from educators and recognition within the education sector.

Carrying forward the momentum into 2025-2026, SLICGL continues as the official insurance partner for the NEA, with Guru Buhuman, which offers educators meaningful financial security including security through a Rs.1,000,000 personal accident insurance cover, Rs.3,000,000 home insurance cover, addressing what matters most to teachers, at home and in daily life.
