Sinopec extends support to the Kiri Vehera and Kataragama Devala Renovation Project with a donation of 1,500 bottles of drinking water |
Sinopec recently extended its support to two significant annual religious and community events: the Kiri Vehera and Kataragama Devala Renovation Project and the Annual Kasagala Purana Rajamaha Vihara Perahera.
On June 14, more than 450 volunteers, including temple trustees, families, well-wishers, and experienced workers gathered to clean and repaint the vast and sacred Kiri Vehera and Kataragama Devala premises. For 66 consecutive years, this project has been ongoing, a symbol of faith, and generational commitment, ensuring that these sacred grounds remain preserved for pilgrims from across Sri Lanka. Volunteers worked diligently for five days, performing tasks that required physical stamina and spiritual dedication.
Sinopec was privileged to contribute to this meaningful initiative by providing 1500 bottles of drinking water to sustain the dedicated volunteers working tirelessly under the harsh dry-zone sun. The gesture reflects Sinopec’s deep commitment to nurturing the well-being of the communities it serves, recognizing that access to clean water is a fundamental need, especially in challenging environments.
The donation was made in collaboration with Filling Station H.U.N Enterprises Athurugiriya, who have been a longstanding supporter of this project for decades. The station regularly provides much-needed fuel to the temple’s transport and maintenance teams, ensuring the smooth functioning of their operations during the renovation period and other key religious activities. By partnering closely with its dealers, Sinopec strengthens foundational collaborations and amplifies the positive impact of community-driven initiatives.
Sinopec also collaborated with Filling Station Dealer R. M. Abeykoon Banda in Kumbukgete, to support the 52nd Annual Kasagala Purana Rajamaha Vihara Perahera by providing drinking water to volunteers, performers, and support staff during the tenure of the event.
