Sri Lanka’s highly anticipated Nation Branding Campaign is now set to launch on June 26, in Colombo, nearly two months after its initially indicated timeframe.
The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) made the announcement over two weeks ahead of the event, a move seen by some as a strategic effort to build momentum, though a specific venue for the launch has not yet been disclosed. The campaign, which was earlier slated for a launch in late April, is pivotal to the nation’s efforts to rejuvenate its global tourism image and attract a wider range of travellers. The June 26 event is expected to bring together key government and private sector stakeholders, including tourism officials and other distinguished guests, to unveil the new branding and its associated initiatives.
According to the SLTPB, the event will “showcase the latest initiatives driving the growth and development of Sri Lanka’s thriving tourism industry, while highlighting the remarkable progress in tourist arrivals.”
The delay in the campaign’s launch had been a point of discussion within the industry, with stakeholders eagerly awaiting the new strategy to bolster Sri Lanka’s position in a competitive international market. The upcoming launch is now seen as a “transformative journey to elevate Sri Lanka’s global presence.”
