SLT-Mobitel restores schools displaying commitment to ESG priorities

When Cyclone Ditwah struck, Anuradhapura’s Morakewa Vidyalaya and Thuruvila Primary School were badly damaged, leaving hundreds of children without a safe space to continue their education.

Recognizing the vital role these institutions play in shaping young lives, SLT-Mobitel undertook the restoration of both schools, helping students and teachers return to normalcy while contributing to long-term community development.

The renovations carried out at Morakewa College and Thuruvila Primary School have transformed the schools into safe and welcoming learning environments. With the completion of these improvements and reopening of facilities in February 2026, students were able to return to schools and continue their academic activities in a secure and refreshed setting.

The project was carried out with the support of the Governor of the Northern Province, Wasantha Jinadasa. It highlighted how public and private partnerships can align together under ESG principles to enact social responsibility, environmental awareness, and good governance.
