People’s Bank, in partnership with Sarvodaya Fusion, hosted the graduation ceremony of the ‘Empowering Tomorrow’s Innovators’ Youth Tech Skill Development Program at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH).

This event marked the successful conclusion of a transformative educational initiative designed to equip Sri Lankan youth with vital digital competencies.

A total of 100 students were awarded the Diploma in Computer Science (DICS) during the ceremony. Among the graduates, 10 outstanding performers were honoured with Special Medals for academic excellence. Over a nine-month period, these students completed a rigorous curriculum aligned with NVQ Level 4 standards, covering key areas such as programming, web development, networking, graphic design, and computer mathematics.

Launched in December 2024 as part of People’s Bank’s corporate social responsibility efforts, the ‘Empowering Tomorrow’s Innovators’ program reflects the bank’s ongoing leadership in driving digital transformation in Sri Lanka. Delivered in collaboration with Sarvodaya Fusion—the ICT education arm of the Sarvodaya Movement—the initiative awarded 100 full scholarships to students aged 15–19 from across the country, promoting digital literacy and paving the way for future careers in the technology sector.

Students were selected through a comprehensive nationwide selection process, representing diverse regions including the North Central, North Western, and Western Provinces. The program emphasized inclusivity, offering high-quality ICT education to students from a broad range of socio-economic backgrounds.

The graduation ceremony was graced by several distinguished guests, including Prof. Narada Fernando, Chairman of People’s Bank; Dr. Vinya Ariyaratne, President of Sarvodaya Movement; Prof. Rohan Samarajiva, Chairman of Sarvodaya Fusion; Clive Fonseka, CEO/General Manager of People’s Bank and Prof. Dileeka Dias Board Member of Sarvodaya Fusion. Also in attendance were Nipunika Ruhunage, CEO of Sarvodaya Fusion, senior management from both institutions, students, parents, and well-wishers.
