Packaging Awards 2025 celebrates excellence, innovation and sustainability



President’s Award – Won by JF Packaging Limited: Single package entry that achieves the highest mark among all entries, highlighting its outstanding quality and creativity

Sri Lanka Packaging Awards 2025 (Lanka Star Awards) concluded on a high note recently at Cinnamon Grand Colombo, recognising outstanding achievements in packaging design, functionality, sustainability and innovation across Sri Lanka’s manufacturing and export sectors.

Organised by the Sri Lanka Institute of Packaging (SLIP) and endorsed by the World Packaging Organisation (WPO) and Asian Packaging Federation, the event marked the grand finale of Packaging Week 2025, which also featured the Global Packaging Congress, WPO Board Meetings and the Lankapak Exhibition.

Over 400 guests attended the gala evening, including international delegates, industry leaders, brand owners, engineers, designers, academics and regulatory officials, all gathered to celebrate Sri Lanka’s growing influence in the global packaging industry.

This year’s competition received over 300 entries from 70 organisations, demonstrating creativity and technological advancement across a diverse range of packaging solutions. Winners of the Lanka Star Awards will go on to represent Sri Lanka at the AsiaStar and WorldStar Awards, the world’s most prestigious packaging competitions.

The judging panel was chaired by SLIP Past President and WorldStar Awards Judge Ananda Munasinghe and comprised leading industry professionals including Kithsiri Wijesundera, Dr. Rohantha Athukorala, Dr. Sujeewa Gunaratne, Prof. Ilmi G.N. Hewajulige, Prof. P.G. Rathnasiri, Prof. K.K.D.S. Ranaweera and Siddhika G. Senaratne.

The Platinum Award for overall achievement with the highest number of awards this year was presented to Aitken Spence Printing & Packaging (Pvt.) Ltd, with four Gold, seven Silver and eight Bronze awards. 

The prestigious President’s Award 2025 for the entry that received the highest number of points was presented to JF Packaging Ltd. 

SLIP President Thusith Wijesinghe stated, “This year’s wards have demonstrated how Sri Lankan companies are not only keeping pace with global innovation but also leading with creativity and purpose. The level of excellence and sustainable thinking showcased reflects the growing maturity and global readiness of our packaging industry.”

Sri Lanka Packaging Awards 2025 were supported by Principal Sponsor – Aitken Spence Printing and Packaging (Pvt.) Ltd, with Gold Sponsors – Crimson Creative Solutions (Pvt.) The event concluded with an evening of dinner, dancing and networking, offering an opportunity for the local and international packaging community to connect and celebrate their shared achievements. Among the distinguished attendees were WPO President Luciana Pellegrino, WPO General Secretary Johannes Bergmair.
